What recent guests emphasize

Exceptional service and serene luxury in a stunning beachfront setting

Guests consistently highlight attentive, warm staff and a beautiful resort blending ocean, jungle, and mountain landscapes. While the property impresses with its design and amenities, some practical points about facilities and atmosphere are noted.

Guests often praise

  • Outstanding, personalized service from butlers, restaurant staff, and activity hosts noted for warmth and attentiveness.
  • Beautiful location offering stunning ocean views, expansive grounds, and a peaceful, natural environment.
  • Luxurious, well-appointed suites with plunge pools, spacious interiors, and thoughtful design details.
  • Multiple quality dining options with guests fond of La Cocina and Buena Onda for fresh, flavorful meals.
  • Well-equipped fitness center with knowledgeable instructors and engaging wellness offerings including yoga spaces.

Worth knowing

  • The resort is large, requiring transportation such as golf carts or bikes to move around comfortably.
  • The spa, though beautiful and serene, is smaller and opens later than some guests expect, lacking outdoor amenities found at sister properties.
  • There is no dedicated adult-only pool area; families with children are common throughout the pool spaces.
  • Some guests found certain dining venues pricey with mixed reviews on food quality and service consistency.
  • Bike rentals are not assigned to rooms and must be sourced from multiple staging areas, which some found inconvenient.

  • Those who enjoy boutique luxury with a focus on personalized experiences rather than fast-paced urban settings.

I spent a week with family and friends at the Rosewood Mandarina for my birthday and we had such a wonderful time. Thank you to our butlers, Alejandro and Sade, for always thinking of us and making everything so easy. Thank you to Francisco and Israel at La Cocina, and to Liliana at Buena Onda, for welcoming us with such warmth during meal times. Thank you to Abrahim at the Kids Club for helping my son find a little magic. He looked forward to seeing you everyday. Thank you to Miguel at the gym for being an incredible fitness instructor and for helping us connect with the land by sharing its history and the stories of its people. And thank you to Jesús, Marco, and Roberto at the pool for keeping us well fed, hydrated, and entertained! We appreciated every one of you.

It was my first stay at Rosewood Mandarina, and it was truly special. The resort is stunning, the atmosphere is so relaxing, and the service was outstanding. As a frequent guest at Rosewood Mayakoba, I immediately felt the same warmth and genuine care — they truly made me feel at home. I’m already looking forward to coming back. I would like to recognize the entire team — front desk, housekeeping, food & beverage, chefs and waiters, butlers, pool and beach staff, and bellboys. Everyone was wonderful and made my stay unforgettable.

We’re a mid-30s couple (no kids) who stayed at Rosewood Mandarina in early December 2025 for 5 nights in a Poolside Studio Suite King. From arrival, everything felt smooth and thoughtful. After customs, the transport team was waiting with a modern, air-conditioned SUV stocked with drinks and snacks, and even offered a grocery or pharmacy stop. The 50-minute drive was easy, and check-in was warm and efficient. Our room wasn’t quite ready, so we were given a quick buggy tour of the grounds, where we learned about a baby turtle release at sunset—an incredible experience we would’ve otherwise missed. From landing to room, we felt relaxed and at home very quickly. The property is lush, beautifully manicured, and architecturally stunning, blending seamlessly into nature. Despite being a large resort, it’s very walkable; we only needed buggies for the Japanese restaurant (Toppu) or the speakeasy (Penasco). Bikes were a fun touch, and wildlife sightings (including crocodiles and birds) added to the sense of place. Our suite was fantastic—spacious, brand new, and beautifully designed with great attention to detail. The bed leaned slightly firm but was comfortable. The plunge pool was warm, private, and offered ocean views with sunsets from the corner. Housekeeping was excellent with daily service and nightly turndown. One clear miss: the outdoor shower is completely exposed, visible from other rooms and walkways. The foliage may help in a year or two, but for now it’s baffling. We also were woken up 2 nights in a row with a baby crying at 1-2AM in the connected suite. The walls felt thin and we slept with earplugs as a result. Why the reception felt the need to put a couple with an infant child next to a young couple (when the resort was well below capacity) beats me. There are four similar pools with varying temperatures; the warmer upper pools were especially pleasant. Seating was plentiful both poolside and on the beach, and service was very attentive (shoutout to Freddie). The beach itself is beautiful, though the waves were strong during our stay. Two things to note: there’s no dedicated kids’ pool, and children were loud across all pool areas, which detracted from the calm. Additionally, some guests were regularly on speakerphone/FaceTime at the beach, and staff didn’t intervene. This may not bother everyone, but if you’re expecting an Aman/COMO/Six Senses level of serenity, this isn’t quite it. The gym and spa were standouts. All new equipment, daily classes, and excellent spa facilities (sauna, steam, cold plunge) that can be used without a treatment. We loved the spa scent so much we bought some to take home. Food was exceptional—arguably the best we’ve had at a resort. La Cocina (Mexican) and Buena Onda (Spanish grill) were favourites. Toppu was good, though not standout if you live in a major city. The cliffside speakeasy was a highlight for sunsets, and the bartenders happily went off-menu. Service across the board was warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming—from restaurants to buggy drivers to airport transfers. Overall: Rosewood Mandarina is a visually stunning, immaculately maintained resort with exceptional service, excellent spa and gym facilities, and truly standout food. The rooms are luxurious and thoughtfully designed, though the exposed outdoor shower is a miss. The main drawback is the lack of a quiet/adults-only pool strategy, thin room walls and inconsistent guest etiquette, which limits the sense of tranquility compared to peers. A fantastic resort overall, but not the most serene beach experience for those seeking total calm.

Recently opened in May 2025, we were very excited to experience Rosewood Mandarina especially loving their Mayakoba property. What makes this most amazing is that RLH Properties owns all of Mayakoba and Mandarina (including One & Only). Upon arrival at Madarina, you notice the huge expanse of land, the Equestrian Center, golf course, numerous vegetable gardens and waterways. All told, this is a $1B+ investment. We were impressed with the vegetation and trees as it looked like everything here was for years, not months. One of 28 or so beachfront suites, you are literally steps from the ocean and crashing waves. The sunsets are sensational every night. Every door is heavy, bathrooms are lush, fixtures are world class and sinks you’ve not seen. All suites have a plunge pool and lounge chairs. Our suite featured 1.5 bathrooms, unlimited closet space and oversized living area. The resort is enormous and requires getting around by golf cart or bikes. Unlike Mayakoba, bikes are not assigned to each room and you have to get yours in three different staging areas. Also much different than Mayakoba which I found strange is that there is no adult pool or adult area that redefined Mayakoba. There are four free-standing pools that form a rectangle. Kids are everywhere. The biggest disappointment here was the spa. Open at 9:00 instead of 7:00 like Mayakoba, the spa doesn’t have a pool, jacuzzi, outdoor shower, outdoor yoga area or outdoor relaxation lounge. Fitness center is 100% TechnoGym and very nice. There are two indoor yoga and mat rooms. Please add two Peloton bikes. There are three restaurants. I did a full review for La Cocina, their casual all day beachfront restaurant that is incredible. Their signature restaurant, Toppu, needs attention. Located at the top of the mountain, it boasts sweeping views. However, our table was in an enclosed space with no view and it was nearly empty. The menu is very pricey and food just average. My favorite restaurant is the most casual, Buena Onda. First come, first serve, it’s a beach shack literally on the beach with 12 tables. The kitchen consists of a wood burning oven and everything is prepared on it, nothing fried, everything fresh. Bread service was among the best with four dipping sauces for the crispy house made bread. We ordered a green salad, whole chicken, and baked potatoes. Alas, service was an issue and after more than a hour wait, they brought everything at once. It was not a Rosewood moment. The beach is beautiful and perfect for walking, about 15-20 minutes. Beach chairs are super big and comfy. They offer amenities like frozen coconut chocolate bananas and cold wash clothes. Towels are oversized and fluffy. However, the star of the property is the bathrooms. They are so amazing and each one cost a small fortune. You won’t find a single urinal here and most bathrooms are unisex. Fresh flowers in each one and perfectly clean. Staff is an issue and the hero on the property is the room manager, Marco. We met him the first day and he was on property daily and took care of any issues. Only seven months in, I’m hoping that on our visit next year, all the kinks will be ironed out. Overall, we have stayed at more than 100 beach resorts and I have to say this property has the best beachfront suites especially with the sunsets. The investment made by RLH is massive and the beauty of the grounds is impressive. It is definitely a place to put on your bucket list.

This place is absolutely magical. The staff are phenomenal and very attentive, anticipating any needs. We loved La Cochina for breakfast. We stayed in a Flatland room, which is situated in the middle of the property. We had a beautiful view of the ocean and the mountains so I felt like we got the best of both worlds. We enjoyed riding the bikes around the property, but they also offer to pick you up via golf cart. I anticipate this hotel will get incredibly busy over the next several months since opening recently.

Rosewood Mandarina; a sanctuary of peace and relaxation. We’ve visited a lot of high end hotels, but we’ve never in our lives felt so at peace like we did at this property. Every aspect of our stay was pure bliss. From the warm welcome which set the tone for the rest of our stay, to the attention to details from the team, we cannot help but plan for a longer stay the next time we’re in Puerto Vallarta. The resort is incredible. One can opt for beach vibes or zen garden vibes and soon mountain vibes. The suites are luxurious and quiet. The staff members are the kindest we’ve ever met. Breakfast at la cocina was something we looked forward to daily. My partner’s allergy to pineapple was well noted and meals modified to accommodate her. Thank you all for making our stay enjoyable.

Rosewood Mandarina – Absolutely Exceptional We stayed at Rosewood Mandarina for two days, and it was truly an incredible experience from start to finish. The property is stunning—nestled perfectly between the jungle and ocean, with breathtaking views everywhere you look. The service was outstanding: warm, attentive, and genuine without ever feeling intrusive. Every detail felt intentional, from the design of the rooms to the little touches that made our stay so special. The spa was an absolute highlight. It’s one of the most beautiful and serene spa settings I’ve ever experienced—peaceful, elegant, and deeply relaxing. The treatments were top-notch, and the surroundings made it feel like a full escape from reality. Even though our stay was short, it completely exceeded our expectations. We can’t wait to come back for a longer visit.
